I'm a history lover and deeply invested in learning about the places that I find myself. I'm grateful that theatre often takes me to new cities and states and exposes me to history I wouldn't have encountered otherwise. 

P.S. - every historical marker has a motive, and this article from NPR does a great job of discussing how these kinds of signage can carry political, social, and historical biases. Read the sign, then follow up with your own research!
